Studio Coverage:Breakdown|How To Order| Analysts|Testimonials|Price|Screenwriters Online Home Page

Studio Coverage is the intense, in depth script analysis with page-specific notes and comments that is required by a major studio when deciding whether to go forward in the process of turning a screenplay into a movie.

Over the years, we've had so many requests from members and visitors asking us to read their film scripts and offer our professional analysis, that is why we offer Studio Coverage.

Offering a service like this to our members required time and consideration because professional coverage is one of the most important links in the process of getting your script or screenplay made into a movie. We were only willing to offer this if we could do it at the highest levels of the profession.

That is why we are so pleased that Candace Kearns, has joined our team at Screenwriters Online.

Dear Tony Greco,

Candace Kearns' STUDIO COVERAGE of my screenplay recently arrived in my mailbox.

I am delighted by her intelligent analysis. Her coverage shows a thorough and sympathetic grasp of my intent, and is wonderfully specific in identifying precisely what I've done right -- and wrong. Candace has also provided lucid constructive criticism and canny suggestions for how to fix problems and strengthen the overall result.

Armed with this information, I'm encouraged and empowered to proceed with a rewrite that I feel sure will take my project much closer to a saleable screenplay.

As a paid professional writer for the past 18 years, I know there is no substitute for an objective, professional evaluation of any writer's work. This particularly true, when that writer is entering a new genre or a new field. Since my prior output was in other areas (books, speeches, journalism) I know that I need a qualified, experienced pro to look over my screenwriting efforts. Screenwriters Online and Candace Kearns have provided articulate, expert feedback that I would be hard-pressed to find anywhere else.

Your service is a great bargain at $325 for a dozen or so single-spaced pages of close, detailed analysis, plot summary, and brief "box score" rating of specific elements. But again, the quality of this material is what truly makes it invaluable.

Thank you, and please pass this on to Candace.

Sincerely,

Marcus Webb

Louis Spirito: Screenplay Analyst

Because of the overwhelming demand for Studio Coverage at Screenwriters Online (and we have seen a number of really fabulous screenplays too!), we are proud to announce the addition of another ICM alumnus, Louis Spirito.

Not only was Louis at ICM but has "covered" and analyzed many scripts that have gone on to be very successful and well known movies. Among the screenplays that Louis has "covered" for the major studios and agencies are:

Lou has also overed many television Movies of The Week, IN THE LINE OF DUTY, and CONDUCT UNBECOMING among them. Louis Spirito is an amazing analyst and writer, a Magna Cum Laude Graduate in Literature from Fordham University, and a busy screenwriter in his own "write", we are proud to have him with us.

A NOTE TO OUR MEMBERS
It is our hope that by offering you the opportunity to have your script given studio coverage by two highly respected analysts, whose opinion is sought after by the best actors, agents and studio executives in this business, we will be bringing each of you that much closer to fulfilling your dream of becoming a successful professional screenwriter.

In terms of money, this may be the best investment you can make in your career: to get a real player to give a full evaluation of your script the way any major screenwriter's script would be evaluated and to know your weakness and your strengths is a priceless piece of information. Hollywood may be mythical in many respects but it operates on the bottom line. If someone is going to buy your screenplay for $250,000 they're going to want to know they've got the goods and this is one way of your knowing whether you've got it.

You may be surprised.

New screenwriters hit it big all the time.

Screenwriters Online's coverage was recently recommended
    by the legendary script analyst
    SYD FIELD,
    in a recent Screenwriters forum.

    QUESTION TO SYD FIELD:
Syd, My question, since I have a tendency to become my own fan, and friends are not critical, do you recommend any of the professional reading services to use for feedback?

    SYD FIELD:
    Yes, Screenwriters Online

Syd Field ("Screenplay," "Selling Your Screenplay," "Screenwriter's Workbook") is an icon, a great teacher and script consultant. His books have sold over 600,000 copies; he is translated into 16 different languages; and his books are taught in over 300 colleges and universities. His books inspire screenwriting and have turned more students into professional screenwriters than any other teacher.

FROM SIR ANTHONY HOPKINS MANAGER, BOB PALMER:
As the personal manager of Anthony Hopkins and Faye Dunaway, I was introduced to Candace's talents when she was with International Creative Management. There she provided coverage of scripts submitted to ICM for their most prominent clients, including Sir Anthony and Miss Dunaway.

I always welcomed Candace's coverage. Her story sense, grasp of the writer's intention, and special gift for seeing elements, which, if developed, could carry the material to greater heights, was often stunning. I liked her knack of finding something to compliment in the thinnest material. Her criticisms were clear. In her candor she was always constructive.

When Anthony Hopkins moved to CAA, and Candace left ICM to become a free agent, we brought her into the fold to help us evaluate projects submitted to us through CAA. She worked closely with Sir Anthony in preparing notes on two feature films, which were ultimately produced. She also produced brilliant coverage on two unpublished novels.

    SCREENWRITER FEEDBACK&TESTIMONIALS

    Dear Screenwriters Online

I just received my coverage, and to say I'm delighted with the results would be an understatement. And it's not just because Candace's comments overwhelmingly confirmed what I suspected about this piece. Her comments were thoughtful and detailed, and l'm excited by the prospect of getting back to the task of fine tuning the material.

Now I'll let you in on a little secret. The script I sent you was a pure stream of conciousness first draft, written in nineteen days, with a day and a half of tweaking following a quick read and comments from Jeff Arch (Sleepless in Seattle.) As I told Tony, it was Jeff's recommendation that brought me to Screenwriters Online. Since Jeff was never that crazy about my previous seven scripts, I had a feeling I was on to something. The fact that Candace describes the material in much the same way I do validates that feeling. I fully intend to take advantage of the rewrite discount. Thanks again.
    David S. Muhlfelder

    Hi, Tony.
Thank you for emailing me the script notes today. I have to say how impressed I was with the notes given. Every point was spot on, well considered and provided an exceptional roadmap for the rewrite ahead. Please forward my thanks for these notes.

I've recently received coverage through FilmTracker.com and they don't compare to what your service has provided. On this script in particular, the reader couldn't get past his love of "Apocalypse Now" to be able to provide us with any sort of objective criticisms or notes. So you can imagine what a relief these notes today were. So, in closing, thank you and be assured that I will recommend as many writers as I can to Screenwriters Online.
    Mack Lewis

    "Dear Candace,
Thank you so much for your help. - Your fifteen plus pages of detailed notes were really supportive and very insightful. Your suggestions were invaluable and made big difference. After making the changes you suggested, I went on to place as a finalist in five different screenwriting contests!
    Thanks again,
    Tom Mitchell"

"I just wanted to drop Screenwriters Online a note to let you know
that I just received my analysis
of my script, and I am extremely
    pleased with the results.
    I found the comments both
    insightful and useful,
    but refreshingly honest as well.
    The analysis, I feel, will
provide my script with the proper
    focusing it needs.
    I plan to fully utilize
    the rewrite discount as well.
    Thank you very much.

    M Giaquinto"
By the way, since we last wrote I have a producer for my screenplay so I'm a step closer to my dream of having a produced screenplay. Thanks to your team at Screenwriters Online. I find the site, Insider Report and assessments very helpful.
    Kind regards

    Hi-Received Studio Coverage for my
    screenplay.I think,the point's she
brought up were right on the money
    and will help me immensely
in rewriting it up to professional level.
    Anyway, I highly recommend it
The thing any of us need is feedback
    from someone who really knows
    what's going on.

Incidentally, I was marketing director for CBS network-musical instrument division.
I wrote ads for national and international publications,
so have been around the block.
I thank you-and will send the rewrite back.
    Dennis

I just received the coverage of my script by Candace Kearns. The comments were insightful and will be extremely useful as I revise the script. Thanks.

I just received coverage from L. Spirito on my work in progress "Wisconsin Hay". I appreciate the frank and candid nature of the analysis. It is exactly the kind of feedback that I find useful for improving the script.
If I wanted someone to hold my hand I would give it to my mother for coverage!
